HEALTH POLICY

Inevitably, from time to time, we are prone to coughs, cold and other infections. Where groups of people are found close together, especially children, the spread of common childhood illness is most unavoidable.

Twinkle Little House will continue with our stringent maintenance of cleanliness in our school by doing the followings:

  • Screening each child’s hands, mouth and feet and taking temperature of all children before they enter the school.
  • Maintaining regular schedules for cleaning of all toys and equipments after school every day.
  • Cleaning of bathrooms every hour.
  • Daily use ‘Bio Fresh’ anti bacterial spray for all surfaces throughout our school.

In order to minimize the unnecessary spread of illness, we kindly request cooperation from all parents to do the followings:

Please keep your child at home until fully recovered if he/she has:
a. a temperature higher than normal
b. a persistent cough
c. a runny nose or blocked nose with coloured discharge
d. any visible rashes

If your child has been away because of any contagious illness such as HFMD, chicken pox, measles or head lice, kindly produce a doctor’s confirmation that he/she is free from the illness and is able to attend school.

What is HFMD Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease?

  • HFMD disease is a mild illness caused by one of a group of coxsackie viruses. It gets its name from the little scores that develop on the hands and feet, and in mouth. It’s common in children under 10, although adults can get milder form of the virus.
  • Symptoms of HFMD may include high fever, rash/blisters on hands, feet, diapers area and/or ulcers in the mouth.
  • Apart from a serious strain of the virus (there are more than 50 different ones) HFMD is only moderately contagious, much like the common cold.
  • HFMD manifests differently depending on the state of the child’s immune system. For example, a child with strong immune system may only show mild flu – like symptoms, whilst a child with a compromised immune system may show the plethora of symptoms.

What parents can do about common contagious children disease such as HFMD/ chicken pox/ measles/head lice.

  • Check regularly your child’s hands, feet, diapers area and mouth for spots or ulcers.
  • Keep your child from school if a rash appears, no matter how mild (HFMD)
  • Keep your child from school if he/she is sick or has had a fever in the past 24 hours, even if the fever appears to have diminished.
  • Keep your child from school if he/she is on medication other than prescription drugs for certain ailments like asthma.
  • Monitor your child closely if he/she is refusing to eat “ ulcers in the mouth are hard to see, but a sure sign that your child is feeling unwell is if he goes off his/her food (HFMD)
  • Inform the school immediately if your child or any other member of your family is diagnosed any contagious illness, no matter how mild so that we are also aware of the symptoms and to alert other parents.

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY

Kindly hand over your child to our teachers and please refrain from entering the school. We kindly request that the hugging and goodbyes should be done at home or just before approaching the school. We understand the child will definitely cry, but without the presence of the parents, the child will be able to calm down sooner after gentle coaxing of our teachers and on seeing the friends who have arrived in school.

We would like parents to send their child early which is 8.30am. Please understand that our circle time which starts at 8.45am is a time where teachers do the sing along with the children and introduce new songs and inform them of the theme of the week and sometimes there are birthday celebrations. Your child will also miss out the story telling which incorporating puppetry, role play and acting. Late arrival of your child would also means that he/she will not be able to progress as rapidly with the reduced hours spend on our programme.
